Sarah Kelly – Nursery Proprietor and Manager

Sarah spent 8 years working as a primary school teacher. As an experienced teacher and mother to her own two boys, Sarah has strong values and practices around quality childcare and development. Her desire to realise these strong values and practices in her own setting led to her opening Puddleducks in June 2012. Sarah sets the standards in the nursery with her own children in mind, asking herself at every turn ‘would this be good enough for my children?’ In turn she sets high standards and expectations throughout the nursery.Sarah owns and manages Puddleducks, but mostly enjoys the time she frequently spends working with the children.

Rose Robertson – Deputy Manager & Baby Room Leader – Maternity Leave

Rose works with our babies and with a baby girl of her own, is experienced in providing excellent care routines and nurturing for our babies. Rose has an exceptionally calm, serene nature, which has our babies always looking to her for cuddles! Usually found snuggled up with a group of babies in our sensory exploration area, Rose loves the nurturing aspect of her job, recognising that cuddles and comfort are key to babies development. With previous nursery supervisory experience, Rose is an experienced practitioner with a wealth of knowledge and understanding around babies developmental and welfare needs.

Ashleigh Gray – Deputy Manager & Preschool Leader

Ashleigh is a very experienced early years practitioner. She has worked in early years classrooms attached to schools; most recently her role was nursery teacher in a local private school. She brings a wealth of knowledge of how to prepare children for their transition to primary school, in particular she ensures all children have a solid foundation of literacy and numeracy skills. Ashleigh runs our preschool, ensuring each day is rich with play based learning opportunities.

Lucy Blackburn – Deputy Manager & Toddler Room Leader

Lucy is an experienced early year’s practitioner who has worked at another local nursery for several years. She has joined our babyroom team and is adored by our babies, giving endless cuddles and supporting each one in their development. Lucy can often be heard singing or using the instruments with the children as she is very musical. Lucy plans some wonderful sentry, messy activities for the babies.

Sarah McIntosh – Nursery Practitioner (Baby Room)

Sarah is an experienced practitioner, who brings maturity and knowledge to our baby room team. Sarah’s own children are now grow up, but having had babies of her own, she understands her position of responsibility. Sarah started off her time with us as our nursery cook but it wasn’t long before she was itching to put her qualification to use and get back to what she loves best. She is a real asset to our team.

Heather Cass – Nursery Practitioner (Preschool)

We have known Heather since 2012, when she did her very first work placement with us as a student. She then returned to do her final placement with us in 2015 and has now become a full time member of the team. Fresh from college, Heather has good knowedge of the current good practices in early years education. With a very calm persona, Heather is popular with our toddlers.

Rosie Bell – Nursery Practitioner (Toddler Room)

Rosie is our very first apprentice. She has recently completed her level 2 qualification with us and is now working towards her level 3. The children adore Rosie. She is already demonstrating her ability to care for children and support them in their learning and development. Rosie works mostly with our toddler children, but spends time in preschool as well. She works as part of a larger, very experienced and fully qualified team, who offer her all the support she needs. We look forward to watching Rosie grow and develop as an early years practitioner in her time with us.

Abbie Dent – Nursery Practitioner (Baby Room)

Abbie has completed her apprenticeship in children’s learning and development with Puddleducks. Previously Abbie spent two years at college studying leisure and tourism, then decided on a rewarding career of working with children instead. Abbie works in our beautiful baby unit, she is calm, patience and very caring towards the babies and they are very fond of her.

Louise Ashton – Nursery Practitioner (Toddler Room)

Louise brings creativity and lots of musical talent to our diverse team! She has a BA in music and this is reflected every day in the nursery, where the children benefit from her love of all things musical! She is also trained in special educational needs. Louise has a very gentle and calming aura and is a favourite with our children. Louise is an experienced practitioner, having worked for several years at a York nursery before joining our team.

Jenny Tweddle – Nursery Practitioner (Baby Room) – Maternity Leave

Jenny has recently relocated to the York area, having spent many years in Carlisle. She is an experienced practitioner and was previously in a supervisory role in a large nursery. Jenny has a little girl of her own, who also come to our nursery. Jenny is so well suited to our baby room, with her very calm, caring and patient nature.

Kim Marshall – Deputy Manager & Nursery Practitioner (Preschool) – Maternity Leave

Kim brings fun, frolics and lots of ‘sparkle’ to our preschool room. Kim knows EVERY nursery rhyme and children’s song, and loves to sing with the children. She gets more excited than the children when we have ‘dressing up’ days, and has an array of flamboyant, sparkly outfits, which the children adore! Kim is a real animal lover, and supports the children in caring for our resident guinea pigs; land snails and fish!
Kim often returns to nursery on Monday mornings, with interesting items she has come across on her weekend adventures. Her home town being Bridlington; the children love to sit and listen to tales of her walks along the beach.

Jay Woodcock – Nursery Practitioner (Baby Room)

Jay is  Mummy of two little boys of her own, so knows all about the trials and tribulations of parenting! Jay has a lovely, calm and caring manner and in turn, our toddlers adore her. Jay is an experienced child care practitioner and brings a wealth of knowledge to our nursery.

Cheryl Arundale – Nursery Practitioner (Baby Room)

Cheryl is a full-time member of the baby room team. Cheryl has a wealth of experience and was a child minder in her previous setting for 12 years.  She has a very calming influence on our babies and they all adore her; she has an excellent bond with her key babies.

Kim Potter – Nursery Practitioner (Baby Room)

Kim works as part of our large baby room team. A very experienced baby practitioner, Kim ensures our babies are very well supported in their learning and development. Mummy to her own baby girl, Kim knows the importance of cuddles and comfort.

Laura Echarri – Office Manager

Laura is employed as our Office Manager.  She provides invaluable support to the management team in the many administrative tasks undertaken. Laura ensures new families receive a comprehensive welcome pack when they join us, and ensures effective communication with our families. Laura’s own little boy attends nursery with her.

Louise Dawson – Nursery Practitioner (Baby Room)

Louise has newly joined our team in the autumn of 2017. With 3 grown up children of her own, Louise has a wealth of experience in child development. In her most recent role, Louise was an assistant in an early year’s department of a primary school for 9 years. Prior to that she worked in a private day nursery similar to ours.

Pamela Dods – Nursery Practitioner (Preschool)

Pamela has newly joined our team in the summer of 2017. She has 2 grown up children of her own and she has a wealth of experience working in the early years sector. In her most recent role, Pamela was an assistant manager in a local Nursery for over 6 years. Prior to that she worked in a local Private School as a teaching assistant.

Jane Goodhall – Nursery Cook

Jane joined Puddleducks in May 2017, she has 2 grown up children and 2 grandchildren which keep her busy in her spare time. Jane has a wealth of experience, she was a Sous Chef in her previous role. Before that Jane worked on a Private Estate as their chef for 8 years.

Chloe Whittaker – Nursery Practitioner (Baby Room)

Chloe is a full-time member of the baby room. She brings her bubbly friendly personality and a variety of experience with her. Chloe previously has worked abroad as a children’s holiday rep and more recently in a nursery with 2-4 year olds. The babies love her fun, caring personality and Chloe especially loves the cuddles!

Sarah Burgin – Nursery Practitioner (Toddler Room) – Maternity Leave

Sarah is a full-time member of the toddler room.  Sarah is a great asset to the nursery and brings a wonderful understanding and experience of childcare. Sarah previously worked in the Montessori Nursery group so really encourages our toddlers to be independent. Sarah is very creative and loves all types of art, messy play and loves to help the toddlers create their own artwork and be imaginative. Sarah holds her degree in childhood studies and therefore has a very in-depth knowledge of how children learn.

Amy Maskill – Nursery Practitioner (Baby Room)

Amy Joined the team in January 2018. Amy completed a degree in Childhood Policy and Practice at Nottingham Trent University. Within her degree she completed a variety of placements at Schools, nurseries, and the children’s ward at QMC-Nottingham. She thoroughly enjoyed accompanying the children to theatre and working with them during the aftercare. Amy is a very calm and caring person which the babies love.

Poppy Dixon – Nursery Practitioner (Toddler Room)

Poppy Joined the team in September 2015. Poppy is currently working towards her Level 5 in Childcare at York College. She has two children of her own Lola and Oliver who also attend the nursery with her. She is very energetic and fun and the toddlers love her!

Katie joined the team in January 2018. She has previously completed a degree in Art, which brings a lot of creativity to the activities she does with the children. She is currently completing a Level 3 in Supporting and Learning in schools and volunteers in her local primary school on her day off to gain more experience.

Deborah joined us in May 2018, she brings a wealth of knowledge and many years of experience. Most recently Deborah has been working in a school nursery. She is a qualified swimming teacher and tumble tots play leader.

Preeya joined us in April 2018, she has been working in a local school for the past 4 1/2 years. Preeya will be a great asset to our preschool team with her background. Preeya is also currently completing a Level 4 Child Psychology course, this is something she has always been interested in.

Puddleducks prioritises the continuous professional development of staff to ensure the team shares a wealth of experience and varied expertise. To this end, all staff are in attendance at regular training courses.
